Dad’s Day Out

One of the items on my Sydney List that was not on Aimee’s was to see a concert or musical festival. Specifically, I wanted to go to Big Day Out which is a traveling festival that hits Sydney on Australia Day every year. The lineup, though, had to be worth it. Luckily, fellow Chicagoan, Kanye West, was headlining so purchasing a ticket was a no-brainer. And since it was Australia Day, Aimee had the day so she took care of Wesley and it could truly be Dad’s Day Out.

I won’t go in to detail about who I saw but I will at least say I saw OFWGKTA, Das Racist, El Mariachi Bronx, Foster the People and a few skateboarders. My main reasons for going, though, were to see Kanye and Girl Talk. Here is a picture Kanye starting his performance on an elevated platform and the Girl Talk stage inside the aptly titled Boiler Room.

I’m certainly glad I made the voyage to Big Day Out. It had been some time since my last concert.

And last but not least, Wesley took some time out this week to embrace his Australian roots in observance of Australia Day. Here he is giving his best “no worries” pose.
